The Challenge

Achieve Zero Compliance Variation

An audit represented a huge monetary risk for the multinational finance and insurance firm. The software environment was unpredictable and difficult to manage. The internal Software Asset Management (SAM) team wanted to create a SAM program with zero compliance variation.

The Solution

Install IBM License Metric Tool (ILMT) for Improved Visibility

Anglepoint supplemented the internal SAM team’s efforts to mitigate audit risk by:

  • Installing ILMT
  • Creating accurate views into licensing
  • Assess current data
  • Refine data and collection methods

In addition to the actions taken to mitigate audit risk, the client decided on a long-term strategy involving the education of their SAM team. While developing a consistent SAM practice, the client engaged Anglepoint’s thought leadership to train their SAM team on best practices and help them achieve industry certifications.

The Impact

Over $13 Million in Cost Savings

  • $10 million in IBM cost savings in the first year
  • $3.4 million additional IBM savings in the second year

With an attitude of preparation, the team’s rallying cry became, “No surprises!” when it came to software licensing.
